Wiseman has always been saying: create something useful. That’s what we want to do for our iphone apps.

If you ever have a chance to go to a classroom in any renowned Chinese college, you’d be surprised to see how many students are wearing glasses. If you ever have a chance to go to a classroom in an American college, it’d be a easy call that most of Asian students who wear glasses are from China.

Don’t ask me why. It’s just a simple fact of life. The same is true in our company, because most of them were good students from good colleges. One of them has very bad eyesight, and we want to do something about it.

We create an iPhone app, Eye Test, so that she can test her eyesight at hand on daily basis.

We started with research on eye testing techniques, and spent RMB 70 Yuan (about US$ 11) in buying Snellen Specification (BS 4274-1:2003 Visual Acuity Test Types), on which we created accurate testing mechnisms with distance of 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 meters. Later on we updated with cooresponding distance in feet.

This kind of accurancy is really important.

In order to make eye testing more fun, we added color testing and vision illusion testing, both of which could be topics of their own that we can do more work later.

Once again, Eye Test was an instant success, and was featured on iTunes as “New & Noteworthy” during Feb 9 - Mar 3, 2009, and stayed as No 1 on “Top Paid Apps” in Medical for about 7 weeks, and ranked as high as No 29 on “Top Paid Apps” overall.

And this is just a start!
